What is LymeForward?
LymeForward is a coming together of local people, organisations and service providers to improve local services. Its purpose is described in legal terms in the Objectives and in the CIC Declaration of Community Interest, but the Activities page shows in practical terms what LymeForward does. We could do so much more with additional volunteers, so do please contact us if you are interested in helping in any way.
For 12 years LymeForward operated under Lyme Regis Development Trust as one of the Local Area Partnerships set up by West Dorset District Council in 2003, funded jointly by West Dorset and Lyme Regis Councils.
In September 2016 LymeForward became an independent Community Interest Company, with funding from Lyme Regis Town Council and West Dorset District Council. Full details of its legal status are available in the Document Archive.
LymeForward's constitution gives overall control to the LymeForward Members, with a representative Steering Group prioritising and monitoring activities. The Directors are responsible for governance, financial oversight and staff management. This diagram shows how the various elements interact.
The Manager is responsible for making everything happen! But as there are only 24 hours in a day, volunteers are crucial to expanding what can be achieved.
There are at least 3 meetings of LymeForward members each year. The press and non-members are welcome to attend either as onlookers or to join in the discussions but cannot vote at these meetings.
