Neighbourly generosity for the Foodbank

May 15, 2018

Following recent publicity in LymeOnline for the reopening of the Lyme Regis Foodbank, a message came to Foodbank organisers from Sheila Burton, President of Bridport Lions Club.

'Last night one of our members brought LymeForward to our notice having read the recent article in the LymeOnline paper. The club members all agreed that we would like to donate £200 to the foodbank.'

Replying to the message of thanks from the Foodbank, Sheila Burton mentioned that 'It is not widely known but Bridport Lions covers from Abbotsbury in the East to Lyme in the West and we are always happy to help where we can. We have a Facebook page, Bridport Lions Club, which will show our most recent activities.'

Chris Boothroyd, Chairman of LymeForward's Health and Wellbeing Group, told LymeOnline that 'This spontaneous gesture is a wonderful example of the sort of neighbourly cooperation from which everyone benefits. The money will help us to supplement Foodbank stocks and to purchase fresh, non-donated food for its clients. We are enormously grateful to the Lions.'
